Compostable phone case mending
Kintsugi is usually something associated with mending ceramics, lacquerware, more recently glass objects; with something that breaks and chips. This is an experimental piece where I mended a tear on my compostable phone case.
I’d been hesitant to glue and repair my phone case since I didn’t own any compostable glue, and didn’t want to introduce any synthetic material to the case that would defeat the purpose of its compostableness. Unsure if urushi would adhere to this compostable material, I went onto trying it out, strengthening the teared spot with washi. Urushi did adhere to the compostable material my phone is made out of and seems to be holding together for the time being.
